UrduVerse privacy policy
UrduVerse is an app for learning Urdu. It is built to work without an account and without collecting personal information. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.
UrduVerse is published by Fluencyverse. Contact: hello@fluencyverse.com.
The short version
- You do not need an account, and the app never asks for your email or phone number.
- Your learning progress stays on your device.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
- We never use your microphone or camera.
What stays on your device
Your progress and settings are saved locally on your phone so the app remembers where you are. This includes the lessons you have completed, your streak and daily goal, your review schedule, your voice and Roman-Urdu preferences, and the display name you optionally enter during setup.
This information lives only on your device. It is not uploaded, and we cannot see it. If you delete the app, it is removed with it.
The Urdu you hear is pre-recorded audio bundled inside the app. Nothing you tap, type, or listen to is sent anywhere.
Diagnostics and usage
To keep the app stable, UrduVerse can send a small amount of anonymous technical information. Both services below are off unless configured for a given release, and neither runs in development builds:
-
Crash and error reports, processed by Sentry
(Functional Software, Inc., sentry.io/privacy),
so problems can be found and fixed. These contain the error, the app version, and the
device model and OS version. Personal identifiers are switched off
(
sendDefaultPii: false), so no IP address or email is attached. - Anonymous usage events, processed by PostHog, Inc. (posthog.com/privacy), such as “a lesson was completed”, to see how the course is working overall. There is no account, so these are not linked to a named person.
Neither is used for advertising, and neither is sold. If a release ships with these switched off, nothing at all leaves your device.
The word-a-week email list
If you choose to subscribe to the weekly word email, on this website or in the app, we store the email address you give us, when you subscribed, and where you signed up. It is used to send that email and for nothing else. It is not linked to any learning data, and there is nothing else it could be linked to, because the app has no accounts. Every email carries a one-tap unsubscribe, and you can also write to hello@fluencyverse.com to have your address deleted entirely.
Purchases
UrduVerse is free. If optional paid lesson packs are added in a future version, any purchase is handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. We would only receive confirmation that a purchase is valid, so the app can unlock what you bought.
If you use “Ask Mano” (not in this version)
A future version may include an optional AI tutor that answers questions about the lesson you are in. That feature is not present in this version. If you choose to use it when it arrives:
- The question you type and the lesson it relates to are sent to our server and on to an AI provider in order to generate an answer.
- Do not type personal or sensitive information into it.
- This policy will be updated before that feature is switched on, and the app will make clear when you are sending a question.
What we do not do
- We do not require an account or ask for your email, phone number, or password to use the app.
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- We do not show third-party advertising or use advertising trackers.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Pronunciation audio is pre-recorded clips bundled with the app. The app never uses your microphone.
Your rights and your control
Because your learning data is stored on your device and not tied to an account, you are always in control of it:
- See it or change it — it is in the app, on your phone.
- Delete it — Profile → Reset progress clears your learning history. Deleting the app permanently removes everything stored on the device.
If you are in the UK, EU, or another region with data-protection laws, you have rights to access, correct, delete, and object to the processing of personal data about you. Because we operate no account system, we hold no personal data that would let us identify you, so in most cases there is nothing for us to look up. Where anonymous diagnostics are enabled, the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the app working. Where you have subscribed to the email list, the lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw with the unsubscribe link in any email. Write to hello@fluencyverse.com with any request and we will answer.
Californian residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not offer financial incentives for data.
How long we keep things
On-device data stays until you delete it or remove the app. Crash and usage records, if enabled, are kept by the processors above under their own retention schedules and are not tied to an identifiable person. Email addresses on the word-a-week list are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion.
Children
UrduVerse is an educational app suitable for all ages, and it is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app or in the release notes.
