Every word you learn comes back.
Each lesson reuses words you have already met, and the course is checked against that rule. So by the time you reach a real sentence, most of it is already yours. Tap any word.

Reading Urdu
The script is there from your very first lesson.
All 39 letters, in the order that makes them easiest to learn: the ones that never join come first, then the connectors, then the tricky sounds and the letters Urdu borrowed from Arabic. The first seven are in the free starter path, and the rest arrive with the full course. Pick one and see how it changes shape.
The Roman spelling stays
Every word appears in real Urdu with the Roman spelling underneath, and the Roman stays there. It is never taken away to make things harder. You can stop leaning on it whenever you are ready.
Every shape a letter takes
Urdu letters change form depending on where they sit in a word. The app teaches all four positions, so a letter you learned on its own is still a letter you recognise in the middle of a real word.
Letters unlock words you already say
Each batch of letters is chosen so that finishing it lets you read words from lessons you have already done. The everyday letters, for example, let you read شکریہ, a word you have been saying since your first lessons.

Is UrduVerse free?
Yes. The free starter path has 40 lessons and takes you from your first hello to your first real conversation in Urdu, and ends with one: tea with Nani. There are no ads. A paid plan for the rest of the course, the whole alphabet and Ask Mano is planned for later.
When can I get it?
UrduVerse is coming to the App Store for iPhone. Get a word a week and you will hear the day it is out.
Is it on Android?
Not yet. UrduVerse is coming to iPhone first, and an Android version is planned. Get a word a week to hear about it first.
Do I need to know any Urdu?
No. It starts from zero. Every word comes with audio and the Roman spelling, and the script is taught a few letters at a time.
I speak some Urdu but cannot read it. Will it help?
Yes. The script is on screen from your first lesson, and its letters are taught a few at a time, with every shape a letter takes inside a word. The free starter path teaches your first letters, and the rest of the alphabet arrives with the full course.
Is this Urdu or Hindi?
Urdu, written in its own Nastaliq script. Everyday spoken Urdu and Hindi are understood both ways, so what you learn to say carries over. How the two fit together.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start learning. Your progress is saved on your phone.
